I found the extra credit robot workshop to be quite the experience. As that was my first time being able to participate in such an endeavor. Well first and foremost, I would not really consider myself to be a handy man if you will, and so putting the robot itself together was quite the challenge for me. Dealing with screwdrivers and screws that varied in not only size, but as well as design proved to be a learning experience that might pay off later on in life. Aside from the physical aspects of this lab, and as interesting as they were, the main attraction of this lab was obviously the artificial intelligence involved. From the outside, the artificial intelligence that the robot used was nothing that was exactly extraordinary. However, to be able to have been that up close and personal and being able to employ the artificial intelligence and all the features it had to offer myself. That personal experience is what made the workshop extraordinary for me. I think being able to provide more workshops like this would prove to be quite worthwhile for all those that decide to participate whether it be younger kids, those around my age, or even the elderly. As I am certain that there are those who are just like me and have not exactly wielded a screwdriver or any kind of tool for that matter a lot during their lifetime. Not only would a participant gain some life skill, but also be face to face with artificial intelligence and be able to see how it works and operates. Granted, it is on the simpler end of the spectrum for artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, some experience with artificial intelligence is better than no experience.
